The Birth of the Messiah.
Jesus Christ - the Son of God - the Word of God and the Law of God.
Jesus offered Himself as a sacrifice for all the sins
of humanity not on a random day, but in strict accordance with God's Law.
Jesus, as the Messiah and Son of man, was born according to God's Law,
also not on a random day.
The international (pagan) celebration of Christmas on
December 25th has nothing to do with reality and the Word of God.
What history tells
us?
Christmas on December 25th is a conventional,
church-established date (it is not specified in the Bible), chosen in the 4th
century to replace the pagan holiday of the "Invincible Sun" with the
Nativity of Christ. This symbolizes the arrival of the "true light"
after the winter solstice. The difference from January 7th is due to the use of
different calendars (Gregorian and Julian). Substitution of pagan holidays: In
the Roman Empire, Saturnalia and the "Birthday of the Invincible Sun"
(Natalis Solis Invicti) were celebrated at the end of December, as the days
were getting longer. The Church reinterpreted this holiday, replacing sun
worship with the worship of Christ, who in Christianity is called the "Sun
of Righteousness".
The worship to the
stars of heaven in the name of Jesus Christ is pure madness. This tradition has
been established for centuries and is performed year after year by billions of
people around the world.
Additionally,
there's the ancient pagan ritual of worshiping gods of trees by decorating the
Christmas and New Year's trees:
The
tradition of decorating a tree dates back to pre-Christian times. In many
cultures, trees symbolized the connection between heaven and earth, life and
fertility. For example, the ancient Celts revered evergreens as a sign of
eternity and victory over death. In Scandinavia, spruce trees were considered
protective against evil spirits and were decorated with berries, fruits and
ribbons. The Christian tradition of using a Christmas tree began in Germany in
the 16th century. Legend has it that Martin Luther, the founder of
Protestantism, was the first to decorate a tree with candles to represent the
stars shining in the sky. This custom quickly spread among German families and
became a symbol of Christmas. At first, decorations were simple
- apples, nuts, and dried
fruit. But over time, glass balls and glittering garlands were added. Thus, the
Christmas tree gradually became the main attribute not only of Christmas but
also of the New Year.
As in the days of Israel's apostasy from God, these
words are relevant for us, the new generation. God is still just as holy and
zealous in fulfilling His commands.
Isaiah 1:12. When ye come to
appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?
13. Bring
no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and
sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even
the solemn meeting. 14.
Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto
me; I am weary to bear them
Amos 5:21. I hate, I despise
your feast days, and I will not smell in your solemn assemblies
Amos 8:10. And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will bring up sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning of an only son, and the end thereof as a bitter day
Jesus' Birthday.
What does God's
Word tell us about this important day of birth of the Messiah?
The day of Christ's birth is not explicitly stated, but for wise people who research the Holy Scriptures in spirit and in truth, there is clear evidence of Elizabeth’s conceiving (the birth of John the Baptist), the wife of the priest Zechariah, her six-month pregnancy leading up to the conception of Mary and the subsequent birth of Jesus.
Luke 1:5. There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth. 8. And it came to pass, that while he executed the priest's office before God in the order of his course, 9. According to the custom of the priest's office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord. 10. And the whole multitude of the people were praying without at the time of incense. 11. And there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense. 13. But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John. 23. And it came to pass, that, as soon as the days of his ministration were accomplished, he departed to his own house. 24. And after those days his wife Elisabeth conceived, and hid herself five months, saying, 25. Thus hath the Lord dealt with me in the days wherein he looked on me, to take away my reproach among menThe priest
Zechariah was from the division of Abijah.
This allows to calculate the birth date of Jesus Christ with an accuracy of one
month.
The course of Abijah.
The schedule of duty in the house of God was implemented by David by lot for the families of the priests.
List of responsibilities:
1 Chronicles 23:27. For by the last
words of David the Levites were numbered from twenty years old and above:
28. Because
their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the LORD, in
the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, and
the work of the service of the house of God;
29. Both for the
shewbread, and for the fine flour for meat offering, and for the unleavened
cakes, and for that which is baked in the pan, and for that which is fried, and
for all manner of measure and size;
30. And to stand every
morning to thank and praise the LORD, and likewise at even;
31. And to offer all
burnt sacrifices unto the LORD in the sabbaths, in the new moons, and on the
set feasts, by number, according to the order commanded unto them, continually
before the LORD:
32. And that they
should keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of
the holy place, and the charge of the sons of Aaron their brethren, in the service
of the house of the LORD
David divided all the priests into 24 courses, according to the number of priestly generations, of which 16 belonged to the line of Eleazar and eight to the line of Ithamar, so that they would serve in turn (1 Chronicles 24:1-19).
1 Chronicles 24:3. And David distributed them, both Zadok of the sons of Eleazar, and Ahimelech of the sons of Ithamar, according to their offices in their service. 4. And there were more chief men found of the sons of Eleazar than of the sons of Ithamar; and thus were they divided. Among the sons of Eleazar there were sixteen chief men of the house of their fathers, and eight among the sons of Ithamar according to the house of their fathers. 5. Thus were they divided by lot, one sort with another; for the governors of the sanctuary, and governors of the house of God, were of the sons of Eleazar, and of the sons of Ithamar. 6. And Shemaiah the son of Nethaneel the scribe, one of the Levites, wrote them before the king, and the princes, and Zadok the priest, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, and before the chief of the fathers of the priests and Levites: one principal household being taken for Eleazar, and one taken for Ithamar
The lots of the priests fell as follows (1 Chronicles 24):
7. Now the
first lot came forth to Jehoiarib, the second to Jedaiah,
8. The
third to Harim, the fourth to Seorim,
9. The
fifth to Malchijah, the sixth to Mijamin,
10. The
seventh to Hakkoz, the eighth to Abijah,
11. The
ninth to Jeshua, the tenth to Shecaniah,
12. The
eleventh to Eliashib, the twelfth to Jakim,
13. The
thirteenth to Huppah, the fourteenth to Jeshebeab,
14. The
fifteenth to Bilgah, the sixteenth to Immer,
15. The
seventeenth to Hezir, the eighteenth to Aphses,
16. The
nineteenth to Pethahiah, the twentieth to Jehezekel,
17. The one
and twentieth to Jachin, the two and twentieth to Gamul,
18. The
three and twentieth to Delaiah, the four and twentieth to Maaziah
Of the 38,000 Levites aged 20 and above, the following were appointed:
24,000 - "for the work of the house of the Lord,"
6,000 - "officers and judges,"
4,000 - "porters" (i.e., service of order and security)
4,000 - "to glorify the Lord on musical instruments"
1 Chronicles 23:3. Now the Levites were numbered from the age of thirty years and upward: and their number by their polls, man by man, was thirty and eight thousand. 4. Of which, twenty and four thousand were to set forward the work of the house of the LORD; and six thousand were officers and judges: 5. Moreover four thousand were porters; and four thousand praised the LORD with the instruments which I made, said David, to praise therewith.
The serviceschedule begins on the first Saturday of the first month of the year.
This is the month of Nisan (old Aviv). Abijah's turn
is the 8-9th week, the end of the 2nd month of Iyar.
According to the roman calendar, this is
approximately, depending on the year, mid- to late May.
Zechariah returns home after completing all the days
of service (about a month).
Luke 1:23. And it came to pass, that, as soon as the days of his ministration
were accomplished, he departed to his own house. 24. And after those days his
wife Elisabeth conceived, and hid herself five months
Good News.
After 5 full months of Elizabeth's
pregnancy, at the beginning of her 6th month, the good news comes to Mary
through the Angel Gabriel.
Luke 1:26. And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, 27. To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. 30. And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. 31. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS
The Angel also informed Mary that Elizabeth was already 6 months pregnant.
Luke 1:36. And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren
Immediately after (a few days) Mary comes to
Elizabeth, and she is already called the Mother of the Lord, that is, Mary has
already conceived from the Holy Spirit.
Luke 1:38. And Mary said,
Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the
angel departed from her. 39.
And Mary arose in those days, and went
into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda;
40. And
entered into the house of Zacharias, and
saluted Elisabeth. 41.
And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the
babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:
42. And she
spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed
art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb. 43. And whence is this
to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
44. For,
lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe
leaped in my womb for joy
An approximate timeline of Elizabeth's pregnancy, taking into account conception before July 15th maximum:
Mary stayed in Elizabeth's house for three months and
then returned home. Elizabeth was about to give birth to John the Baptist. He
was born at the end of the month of Nisan (Aviv) – the beginning of the month
of Iyar (mid-April).
Luke 1:56. And Mary abode with her about three months, and returned to her own house. 57. Now Elisabeth's full time came that she should be delivered; and she brought forth a son. 60. And his mother answered and said, Not so; but he shall be called John.
The date of birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ,
accordingly falls at the end of the month of Elul – the beginning of the month
of Tishrei (mid-September – early October).
Favorable days and common sense.
Our God is the Lord of common sense.
Common sense does not apply to Jesus' birth on
December 25th.
Reason 1: climate and weather conditions.
The period from mid-December to mid-January is the coldest, rainiest, most
inhospitable and harshest in Israel for long-distance travelers, as well as for
shepherds who keep watch over their flocks at night in the fields or mountains.
Given that the average global temperature has increased due to human activity
over the past two millennia, the climate during this period was even colder
than it is today. Nighttime temperatures can drop to 3-7 degrees Celsius, with
rain, downpours, strong winds, and, in some places, snow.
Luke 2:1. And it came to pass
in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the
world should be taxed. 2.
(And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)
3. And all
went to be taxed, every one into his own city. 4. And Joseph also
went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city
of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage
of David:) 5.
To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.
6. And so
it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should
be delivered. 7.
And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes,
and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.
8. And
there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch
over their flock by night. 9.
And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone
round about them: and they were sore afraid. 10. And the angel said
unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which
shall be to all people
Key weather characteristics in Jerusalem in December: Daytime: +15 … +20°C. Nighttime: +5 … +8°C. Precipitation: December is the rainy season, which lasts from October to April. Clothing: Warm, mid-season clothing, a jacket, an umbrella, and comfortable shoes are recommended. Generally, December in Jerusalem is cold and often rainy, which is quite different from a beach holiday on the coast. The capital and the interior mountains are much colder, with nighttime temperatures sometimes dropping below 0°C.
It's hard to imagine the Heavenly Father sending Mary, in her last month of pregnancy, on a long journey of almost 150 km from Nazareth (Galilee) to Bethlehem (near Jerusalem), on a donkey, during the coldest and most difficult time of the year. A journey lasting up to two weeks. Without the possibility of proper and consistent overnight accommodation, and then giving birth in a cold stable and placing Him in a manger, without proper care and especially warmth, risking the health of the little, newborn Jesus, this is difficult to comprehend.
Reason 2: Caesar Augustus' census.
Kings have always conducted a
census of the population in order to calculate financial income and human
resources (planning military actions or revising taxation).
In today's world, holding government/presidential elections
(voting) is definitely not planned for the coldest winter period of the year,
when transport is at its most difficult, so as not to put people's health and
safety at risk.
For the summary:
Presidential
and parliamentary elections worldwide are most often held in the fall,
particularly in September and November. This is because voters are more active
after the summer holidays, and weather conditions are favorable for voting.
·
United States:
Presidential and legislative (Congressional) elections always take place in
November, on the first Tuesday after the first Monday (between November 2 and
8).
·
Europe: Legislative
elections are often scheduled for September-October (e.g., Germany, Poland,
Austria).
·
Latin America: In many
countries, presidential and legislative elections are held simultaneously,
often in October-November (Brazil, Argentina).
·
Asia and Africa: These
elections are more variable, but they are also often held in the fall to avoid
the rainy season or extreme heat.
Why autumn and spring?
• Autumn: the optimal period
after the holidays, when citizens return to their usual rhythm of life.
• Spring: the second most
popular season (March-May), especially for presidential elections in European
and post-Soviet countries.
• Winter and summer: less
popular due to holidays, vacations, and difficult weather conditions.
Any ruler, king or prince would always request information from their advisors before conducting such an important event. In this case, it would be enough to stop any Jew on the road and ask which month of the year they spend most of their time in their homes with families, according to the holidays and God's laws.
This is the month of Tishrei (Exodus 23:16; Deuteronomy 16:13-15; Numbers 29:1, 7, 12; Leviticus 23:7, 8, 24-43; Ezekiel 45:25) – the seventh month of the year:
Tishrei 1 – sacred convocation, the Feast of the Trumpet
Tishrei 1-10 – days of affliction and obedience before God
Tishrei 15-21 – Sukkot, the Feast of Tabernacles, commemorating the Exodus
from Egypt and the temporary sojourn of the ancestors in tents (dwellings)
during their journey through the desert. An autumn harvest festival.
Previously, this month was the first of the year following God's creation of the world and mankind. But in the month of the Exodus from Egypt, God commanded that the beginning of the calendar shall be moved to the month of Abib (Nisan).
Exodus 12:1. And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, 2. This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.
The 7th month of Tishrei is filled with sacred gatherings and holidays. People are gathered together, as much as possible, in their homes with their families, in their home lands. This is the wisest decision and a favorable period to conduct a census for Caesar Augustus. The weather conditions in September and October are optimal for travelers (not too hot or too cold), allowing for a stop along the road and an overnight stay in a tent. Therefore, Joseph and Mary courageously set out on the long journey, fulfilling the prophecies. Therefore, the hotels and inns were already occupied by residents.
It's a Trumpet Day.
On what day in the month of Tishrei was our Lord
supposedly born?
First, we must turn to the Word of God and identify
the important signs and events that preceded God's coming to earth.
For the first time, God descended to earth, to His chosen Mount Zion, before the entire Jewish people.
Exodus 19:16. And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that was in the camp trembled. 17. And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount. 18. And mount Sinai was altogether on a smoke, because the LORD descended upon it in fire: and the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly. 19. And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long, and waxed louder and louder, Moses spake, and God answered him by a voice. 20. And the LORD came down upon mount Sinai, on the top of the mount: and the LORD called Moses up to the top of the mount; and Moses went up
The cloud, a thunder and lightning, fire and the voice
of a trumpet.
Psalms 46:6. The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted
1 Thessalonians 4:16. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven
with a shout, with the voice of the
archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise
first
Revelation 1:10. I was in the
Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet, 11. Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the
last
1 Corinthians 15:52. In a moment, in
the twinkling of an eye, at the last
trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised
incorruptible, and we shall be changed
Revelation 11:15. And the seventh angel sounded; and
there were great voices in heaven, saying, The
kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ;
and he shall reign for ever and ever
Zechariah 9:14.
And the LORD shall be seen over them, and his arrow shall go forth as the
lightning: and the Lord GOD shall blow
the trumpet, and shall go with whirlwinds of the south
Isaiah 18:3.
All ye inhabitants of the world, and
dwellers on the earth, see ye, when he lifteth up an ensign on the
mountains; and when he bloweth a
trumpet, hear ye
A loud, trumpet-like voice, the sound of a trumpet - that is the voice of the Lord.
On Mount Zion, God decrees the celebration of the Day
of the Trumpet, Tishrei 1.
Numbers 29:1. And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, ye shall have an holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work: it is a day of blowing the trumpets unto you
Leviticus 23:24. Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation. 25. Ye shall do no servile work therein: but ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD. 26. And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 27. Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD. 28. And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement, to make an atonement for you before the LORD your God. 29. For whatsoever soul it be that shall not be afflicted in that same day, he shall be cut off from among his pople. 30. And whatsoever soul it be that doeth any work in that same day, the same soul will I destroy from among his people. 31. Ye shall do no manner of work: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings. 32. It shall be unto you a sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your sabbath.
An eternal statute and command for God's people to shout and sound the trumpet to God at a certain day.
Psalms 81:2. Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery. 3. Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day. 4. For this was a statute for Israel, and a law of the God of Jacob. 5. This he ordained in Joseph for a testimony, when he went out through the land of Egypt: where I heard a language that I understood not.
The trumpet is a reminder that the Lord is our God!
Numbers 10:10. Also in the day of your gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months, ye shall blow with the trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; that they may be to you for a memorial before your God: I am the LORD your God.
Tishrei 1 is the day on which our Lord, Jesus Christ, the
Intercessor and Atonement for our sins, the Son of God, given to us in the
flesh, was born.
Golgotha took place in 30 AD. Accordingly, Jesus was
born in 3 BC.
According to the calendar, 1st of Tishrei was September 10.
Pregnancy period
of Mary, the Mother of God. The Good News through the Angel Gabriel was in
mid-December 4 BC.
Ever since the Exodus from
Egyptian slavery, God established a sacred law of celebration, purification and
affliction before the coming Lord, the Messiah, Jesus Christ.
Tishrei 1 – the day of the
trumpet, the birthday of the Savior of the nations, Jesus Christ.
Tishrei 8 – the day of Jesus'
circumcision according to God's Law (Luke 2:21-23) + three days for
purification – Tishrei 8, Tishrei 9 and Tishrei 10.
Tishrei 1-10 – days of affliction,
offerings and sacrifices to God.
The Jewish people still honor
the birth of the Messiah, fulfilling God's command in the Law of Moses,
although they do not fully understand this.
In the year 2668 from the
creation of the world, God said, “it is
a day ” and it became through centuries later, in the year 4108 (3 BC), 1400
years upon arrival of Jews to the promised land of Israel, the Savior was born.
Numbers 29:1.
And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, ye shall have an holy
convocation; ye shall do no servile work: it
is a day of blowing the trumpets unto you
